6m King Dome Build
This build sits just north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast, and while the rain and humidity gave us a bit of trouble during the installation, the end result turned out to be a treat.
The goal? A 6m King Dome set up as a standalone bedroom space — perfect for giving someone (in this case, the client’s son) independence, without needing to build a full second dwelling or navigate major council red tape.
Compact, Clever, Custom
The 6m King Dome is a bit of a gem — simple enough to suit a tight footprint, but still big enough to hold a full bed, small furniture, and (in this case) a split system air con.
-
Diameter: 6 metres
-
Internal space: ~28m²
-
Height: ~3.6m at peak
-
Use case: On-property, self-contained bedroom
It’s a great option for teen retreats, guest pods, backyard studios or anyone needing a little privacy (and four solid walls with style).
Platform & Entry Step
The dome sits on one of our standard steel subframe platforms, anchored to concrete footings (installed during a brief moment of dry weather).
We also added a small Merbau timber entry step, giving the dome a tidy visual finish while making the door area more practical — and less muddy.
Sliding Glass Door Upgrade
This dome features our 3.2m wide glass sliding door system — one of our most popular upgrades, and for good reason:
-
Double-glazed (6mm + air gap + 6mm)
-
Aluminium frame — rust-resistant and weatherproof
-
Full flyscreen system for airflow without the bugs
-
Looks bloody fantastic — even with a broom photobombing the shot
Now standard, French Sliding Doors provide a more balanced look and open evenly on both sides. It’s not just about aesthetics, it also improves cross-ventilation and comfort inside the dome.
Premium Insulation: Our First Public Install
This project marked our first public build featuring our new premium insulation, which had previously only been showcased in one of our display domes.
The colour? We haven’t officially named it, but we’re calling it “bronze-brown” until someone tells us otherwise. It gives the interior a warm, earthy aesthetic that’s a step up from the standard white or off-white tones — perfect for a bedroom.
It’s not just a pretty face either. It also improves sound absorption, thermal retention, and comfort across seasons.
Ventilation & Air Con Mount
The client wanted an open-plan interior, so instead of dividing walls or a separate services room, we installed a custom external A/C mounting plate.
It fits snugly between the outer PVC shell and the internal insulation layer, giving access to ducted air or a wall split without cluttering the internal layout.
Simple, tidy, and future-friendly.
